Is international roaming to Panama free with my home SIM card from the US or Canada?

Updated April 22, 2026

It's a common misconception, but Panama is not part of any domestic roaming zones for US or Canadian carriers. While the US dollar is widely used, Panama is an independent nation. Your home carrier, whether it's AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, or a Canadian provider, will almost certainly charge you premium international roaming rates, often called 'Day Passes,' which can be quite expensive, sometimes upwards of $10-$15 per day. SouthESIM offers a much more budget-friendly and predictable way to stay connected.
